i keep a jacket draped over the back of my chair
the jacket is not one that i would wear otherwise, so it never needs to leave its designated place
the jacket zips up the front, all the way
it is easy to put on and take off
i keep a pair of gloves neatly folded in a drawer beneath my keyboard
these gloves have no fingertips, they would not be suitable for winter weather
so the gloves stay put, readily accessible without ever interrupting the delicate work my fingers must perform
i keep these things near me because i get cold
most people don't have a jacket dedicated to their chair
most poeple don't wear gloves indoors
some people laugh at the idea
i used to laugh, too
i am less cold than i used to be
